Those who proclaim themselves to be wise while being fools never cease from their attempts to impute to the living and the righteous their own folly. I have tasted such with full force for years now as I have seen and tasted the livelihood of a scapegoat amongst a society that cannot grasp that life is not merely a set of instantaneous moments void of any signification. Those who presume themselves to be of a wisdom that is worth consideration are vast in number, though few have known the depths as men such as Carl Jung. This man was a student of Freud's at one point in his early years of psychoanalysis, but he eventually left Freud in favor of heeding the signs and wisdom of the Gods in guiding him throughout his life. His words written to Freud beautifully express what has been ravaging the west as of late. The following letter he wrote to Freud explains his folly:
In December 1912, in a letter to Freud, Jung wrote the following:
You go around sniffing out all the symptomatic actions in your vicinity, thus reducing everyone to the level of sons and daughters who blushingly admit the existence of their faults. Meanwhile you remain on top as the father, sitting pretty. For sheer obsequiousness nobody dares to pluck the prophet by the beard.
(McGuire 1974, p. 535, Jung to Freud 18 December 1912)
